1. REWRITE THE STANDARD IN YOUR OWN WORDS. HOW DOES THIS ASSIGNMENT RELATE TO THE STANDARD?
There was two standards for these assignments they were 8.G.6 and 8.G.7. The standard 8.G.6 was to be able to justify a proof of the Pythagorean Theorem (a^2+ b^2=c^2) and its converse (opposite). The standard 8.G.7 states that you must use the Pythagorean Theorem to find unknown side lengths of right triangles. This assignment relates to the standard because I know the formula for the Pythagorean Theorem (a^2+ b^2=c^2) and I used it to complete this assignment. This assignment also relates to the standard because I knew there were 2 legs and 1 hypotenuse of a triangle and if I was missing one variable I could use the pythagorean theorem to solve for it. This shows that this assignment relates to the standard.
2. WHAT ARE THE STEPS YOU TOOK TO COMPLETE AND DO WELL ON THIS ASSIGNMENT?
There was many steps I took in order to complete and do well on this assignment. First, I found the height of all 3 buildings and plugged it into variable (A). I then plugged in 9 for variable (B) because 9 feet was the range from the possible building. I then solved for variable (C) by using the pythagorean theorem. After, I found who the criminal was (Consuelo Rubio) then I wrote a paragraph explaining why he was the murderer. Finally, I drew out all 3 right triangles and decorated the project/assignment.
3. THIS ASSIGNMENT DEMONSTRATES THE FOLLOWING STRENGTHS…
This assignment shows/demonstrates many different strengths. One strength this assignment demonstrates is that I am able to analyze the given information (able to plug in the height of the building and the range from the possible building) into correct places. This assignment also demonstrates that I am able to solve for who the criminal was (a real life problem) using the pythagorean theorem. This assignment also demonstates that I can investigate/solve for problems and make a conclusion from the results. These are some strengths this assignment demonstrates.
4. I COULD HAVE IMPROVED MY WORK ON THIS ASSIGNMENT BY...
I could have improved my work on this assignment in many different ways. First, I could have made the explanation paragraph be more specific/clear because it wasn't straight on point. I also could have aligned the facts/information and the pictures together so it is easy to distinguish. I also could have been more creative with the designs of the buildings and I also could have shown more effort (not just do what is asked for). These are some ways I could have improved on this assignment.
5. HOW WILL YOU APPLY THE SKILLS YOU LEARNED FROM THIS ASSIGNMENT IN EITHER THE REAL WORLD WHEN YOU ARE AN ADULT OR IN OTHER CLASSES WHILE YOU ARE STILL A STUDENT?
I could apply the skills I have learned from this assignment in many different ways. I could use the skill of analyzing in all subjects for example in ELA I could analyze an article and write a review/answer questions about it. I could also use the skill of making conclusions in performance tasks in all different subjects. I could also use the skill of knowing how to use the pythagorean theorem if I become an designer or an architect because I would be able to correctly design/plan buildings that have shapes of right triangles. These are some ways I could apply the skill in the future.
