1. REWRITE THE STANDARD IN YOUR OWN WORDS. HOW DOES THIS ASSIGNMENT RELATE TO THE STANDARD?
There was two standards to this assignment and I chose to reflect on both standards. The standard 8.EE.8.A was to understand that the answer to a system of two linear equations in two variables equals to the point of intersection on the graph and since they intersect the answer satisfies both equations at the same time. The standard 8.EE.8.C was to be able to solve real-world and mathematical problems leading to two linear equations in two variables. This assignment relates to the standard because we were given a real life prompt about cell phone plans which led to systems of equations. This assignment also relates to the standard because we had to find points that intersect, to do this we needed to know that the variables (x and y) are the coordinates where they intersect. This is how this assignment relates to the standard.
2. WHAT ARE THE STEPS YOU TOOK TO COMPLETE AND DO WELL ON THIS ASSIGNMENT?
There are many steps I took to complete this assignment. First, I had to complete a packet given out in class and I double checked all my answers before I started typing. I created tables on Microsoft Word and printed out graphs and typed all the answers. I then plotted the points to the graphs I printed. Then I cut out the printed information and started to format my poster. I glued everything on the poster and titled it and decorated it. I then turned it in on the date it was due. These are the steps I took to complete this assignment.
3. THIS ASSIGNMENT DEMONSTRATES THE FOLLOWING STRENGTHS…
This assignment demonstrates many strengths. This assignment shows that I could solve two linear equations and also that I could solve for the x and y coordinates for the graph. This assignment also shows I could deal with real world examples which was to compare cell phone carriers. This assignment shows I am able to graph an equation on a graph and also know how to graph inequalities (shade up or down). Lastly, this assignment shows I could answer mathematical questions and use information from the graphs and tables to support my answer. These are the strengths this assignment demonstrates.
4. I COULD HAVE IMPROVED MY WORK ON THIS ASSIGNMENT BY...
I could have improved my work on this assignment in many different ways. One way I could have improved is that I could have labeled the axes because I have gotten points deducted because I did not label the axes. I also could have spent more time trying to answer the question more effectively. I also could have decorated my posters more and be more creative. I could have asked my peers for questions that I didn’t understand instead of struggling. Lastly I could have managed my time well and not finish the poster in a matter of few days. These are the ways I could have improved on.
5. HOW WILL YOU APPLY THE SKILLS YOU LEARNED FROM THIS ASSIGNMENT IN EITHER THE REAL WORLD WHEN YOU ARE AN ADULT OR IN OTHER CLASSES WHILE YOU ARE STILL A STUDENT?
I will apply the skill I have learned from this assignment in many different ways. As a student, I could use this skill of linear equations in my future math classes, tests, or homework. I will also apply the skill of being able to graph equations, and inequalities in high school, tests, and etc. I could use this skill in the real world when I actually wanted to choose a cell phone carrier. If I become a sales person I will be able to use graphs and linear equations to do presentations and etc. These are some ways I could apply the skill I have learned from this assignment to the real world or in other classes.
