Reflection
1. Justify how this project/activity/assignment meets the standard, using evidence from the standard itself to demonstrate your mastery and/or understanding.
W.8.8: Gather relevant information from multiple print and digital sources, using search terms effectively; assess the credibility and accuracy of each source; and quote or paraphrase the data and conclusions of others while avoiding plagiarism and following a standard format for citation.
One of the many standards of this assignment is W.8.8 and I think it is the most important standard out of all the others. If I say the standard W.8.8 in other words it means that to master this standard you will have to research relevant and accurate information from many different sources of media and cite evidence without any plagiarism. To avoid plagiarism you will have to quote and write the source of the information next to the quote to use citation properly. This assignment meets the standard because I cited/paraphrased from digital/printed articles. I also used quotation marks for the quotes and page numbers/evidence where the quote was found.
2. Elaborate on at least 1 skill and/or strength you feel you gained from completing this project. (Coloring and or drawing are not skills to write about - elaborate on life skills you can take out of this project)
Although I have learned many different skills from this assignment the most important strength is citation skills. After this assignment I had gained confidence to cite evidence for any type of citation like inferences and also facts. I was able to extract the main points in a short little way which included examples and citation of the most important information. I also used to forget to close the quotation mark for the quote but this time I was able to fix my habit on doing that. So that is how I have gained the strength of citation skills from this assignment.
3. Upon reflecting on your work/score, what is ONE area of work you could have done better on? How will improving in this area benefit future work/projects? (Coloring and or drawing are not skills to write about - research skills, time management, etc…)
I could have improved on many parts of this assignment. The most important one was finding accurate and reliable resource. There are many different types of resources to get information from but some of those informations are incorrect or a little off. So to improve on this I had to go through many different sites and print out articles to be sure on some parts of the information but luckily most of the information was correct. This will benefit me in many different ways in the future because if there was another assignment like this I would be able to do it more comfortably because I have done it before.
4. How will you presently apply the content and skills you learned from this assignment in the real world? (outside of the classroom, particularly in today’s society) Make connections between the content and your life.
This assignment can help me a lot in the real world. I could use the skill/technique of writing from a reporter POV or book report POV in future ELA classes. I can also become a historian or also a ELA-History teacher because ELA also ties in/intersects with History very easily. I will also use the skill of citation in future writing exams and essays for good scores. This is how this assignment can be applicable to the real world.
